I was searching for the perfect shorts for my nobo attempt on the PCT, and these checked all of the boxes! I love the length, the fact they are unlined but still have sturdy and comfy fabric, have great pockets, and the Tahoma details make me feel a little closer to home! I typically wear size 4-6 bottoms, and the xs are a perfect fit! PCT approved!

Full disclosure: I'm David, the founder of Rainier Watch, and I've been wearing this jacket almost every day since we finally got it right.

I started working on the Muir Anorak almost a year ago. And I mean actually working on it, not just approving a sample. We went through close to half a dozen iterations before I felt good about it. For a while I was testing versions with a generic topo print, and every time I looked at it I knew something was off. It didn't feel like us. The whole point of this jacket is that it's made for people who actually care about the mountain, so the only print that made sense was Mount Rainier, pulled from real USGS topo data. Once we locked that in, everything clicked.

The jacket itself is built for PNW weather, which basically means it needs to handle anything. It's 100% recycled nylon ripstop, packs down small, and sheds rain without making you feel like you're wearing a trash bag. The waterproof zippers and paracord pulls are small things you don't think about until you're fumbling with a zipper in the rain and suddenly very grateful. The kangaroo pocket up front fits more than you'd expect, the bungee at the waist keeps wind out when you actually need it to, and the elastic cuffs seal things up nicely without cutting off circulation.

I've had mine on ferry rides, trail runs, and a lot of coffee shop runs where I just didn't feel like changing. It goes over a midlayer no problem, and when the sun comes out it stuffs into itself and goes in your pack.

It's my go-to this spring. I think it'll be yours too.

Is The Mountain Out?

Hands down my favorite hiking shorts! I loved them so much I even wore them for teaching PE. They’re comfortable, the length is perfect, and the fun details like “ITMO?” and the latitude/longitude make them unique. I got an extra small and they fit me perfectly. I’m very happy with this item and hope there’s another color soon so I can get more!

Took the shorts on its inaugural hike for 9 miles. I don't usually wear 5" length shorts, but these are the exception. They feel great against the skin, have a comfortable stretch that moves with you, with fantastic details and branding, all wrapped in a PNW color. My favorite part is the small zippered pocket. It's perfect for the two items I always carry with me on hikes - earbuds and keys. I can see wearing these for chilling and lounging indoors during PNW winters. It's an awesome product from an awesome local company! They'll get tons of mileage.

Just got the shorts and I’m seriously impressed with the quality! they remind me of a softer version of Patagonia Baggies, but with better pockets!

Is The Mountain Out?

Bought one pair on a whim after searching for non-lined athletic shorts with a back pocket and zipper hidden side pocket, those last two are a hard combo to find. Quality, fit and style blew my expectations away so I bought the two other colors! Only addition I'd like to see is a second back pocket, but otherwise these are a 10/10.

We may be lacking mountains in NOLA but they're always out when I'm rocking these.

The bottom waist diameter was a little tight putting it on over my shoulders but once on, it felt good and it fit fine. I ordered an XL. My normal size is between L and XL. I probably can layer it over a fleece jacket but not much else.

Absolutely love these shorts. They quickly became a main staple in all aspects of life: lounging around the house, camping and hiking trips, Mariners games, paddleboarding and more. Loved these so much I bought a second pair and a pair of the Charcoal and Forest Green shorts.

Bought for my husband and he hasn’t stopped wearing it since. So it’s a keeper!

These shorts are so damn comfy! Absolutely love them. Right now, I have just been wearing them around the house and to the gym. Looking forward to the warm weather returning, but I will need to order another pair or two. Definitely taking the place of lulus and vuoris in my wardrobe.
